Wong Fei-hung and his team lost a match against a rival school and Wong Kay-ying, Fei-hung's father, sends Fei-hung to train with Luk Ah-choy, Kay-ying's teacher. Training in the art of hug gar kung fu, Fei-hung must defeat an assassin and defend the honor of his father and his school in the next match.
PLOT: Pretty good plot based on the legend of Wong Fei-hung with few non-real ideas (7)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHYve Liu Chia-liang some credit. His films always show the traditional styles of kung fu and it is such a delight to watch (10)

William Rockman, a world champion of a tournament called Terminal Combat, killed an opponent in training 5 years ago, and retired from the sport. 2 years ago, Terminal Combat was officially banned by Congress and has gone underground, with one stipulation: someone must die. William has become a kung fu instructor and wants nothing to do with the fights, despite his little brother Ray entering the tournament. In a regional semi-final match, Ray is murdered by the King, a lethal shoot-fighter, who was once believed to have retired when William did. William decides to enter the tournament to exact revenge on the King, but soon, William realizes that King is under the control of unscrupulous Terminal Combat promoter Max Brito. Max is using the King so William can fight King and kill him, hoping that the King's wife, Daria, becomes Britos concubine. William and the King forget what happen and decide to team up to end Brito's greed and jealousy.
PLOT: A typical revenge plot with a twist (6)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Kevin Abercromie concentrated heavily on various styles of martial arts, including Chinese kung fu, Japanese karate, and the art of shoot fighting. (8)

Ronnie, a CIA agent has returned from the United States to help the Hong Kong Police in finding out the background of a computer chip that contains top secret information. It is discovered that gangsters from Mainland China have arrived to steal the chip and make a deal with revolutionaries in Thailand. After a shootout and a brawl in a warehouse, causing Ronnie's ex-girlfriend, Peggy, to get hurt, Ronnie and two cohorts travel to Thailand to stop the gangsters. Later, they team up with the Thailand Army to wage war on both the gangsters and the revolutionaries in a combination of machine guns, grenades, and martial arts.
PLOT: The plot was a little thin and confusing, but in the end, it all makes sense (6)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Non-stop kickboxing action and the finale between superkicer Donnie Yen and veteran kung fu artist Gordon Liu is a great fight (8)

CHINA O'BRIEN

Lori O'Brien, aka China, is a tough as nails lady cop, who after accidentally killing a teen with a gun, decides to leave the force and return to her hometown. Her father is the local sheriff and he begins to experience corruption in the town. The result of this discovery is the death of China's father when his car blows up. China, knowing that her father was killed because of corruption, decides to run for sheriff. Helping her out are the local townspeople, her ex-boyfriend Matt Conroy, a Special Forces operative, and an American Indian named Dakota. China wins sheriff and later with the help of Matt and Dakota, fight off a corrupt cop and his henchmen.
PLOT: Not too bad, but it is a typical revenge plot (6)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Nijel makes the three top stars looking good, especially Keith Cooke, known for his lethal kicks. (9)

China O'Brien, the lady sheriff, is back along with her friends Matt and Dakota. This time, an escaped convict named Baskin is in town and he wants to go after a local resident named Frank Atkins, who used to help Baskin out during Baskin's life of crime. Baskin has a huge plan to extort money from the town. It's up to China, Matt, and Dakota to stop Baskin's reign of terror.
PLOT: A little better than the original film in terms of plot (7)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Nijel once again makes our heroes look good, and look for appearances in the film by karate champions Chris Casamassa and Billy Blanks (9)

CHINESE CONNECTION

Chen Jen, a kung fu expert, returns to Shanghai in the 1920's, to discover that his master died. It was to believe that his master died in a match, but Chen laters discovers that Japanese karate experts had him poisoned. Chen, using different disguises, decides to fight the Japanese, even if it means he'll die for it, not only foir his master, but his country too.
PLOT: Revenge plot but patriotic (8)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHER: Han Ying-chieh made Bruce Lee a star and continues on in the film (10)

CHINESE CONNECTION II

Helping out Ryu are sexy agent Saeka, and a card gambler whose cards can become lethal weapons.
PLOT: Based on a comic book, with some stupid pieces mixed in (5)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Jackie Chan always dazzles audiences and Ching Siu-tung was great in the famed Street Fighter II sequence between Chan and Daniels (10)

COMET, BUTTERFLY, AND SWORD

Three swordsmen, Sing, Ko, and Yip are assigned by the Eunuch to retrieve the sacred letter of Li Shu-tien by their arch-rivals, the Happy Forest. But there is something between the two swordsmen and swordswoman. Ko is in love with Sing, but Sing is in love with Butterfly, a young lady who doesn't know Sing is a martial arts expert, and Yip is in love with Ko. Despite this love rectangle, the heroes would retrieve the latter only to find the eunuch was a fraud and with the help of a martial artist, the heroes defeat the fake eunuch and Sing ends up with Butterfly.
PLOT: Great plot with a lot of twists (8)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: Excellent combination of swordsplay and kicking ability with lots of wire stunts (9)

CRYSTAL FIST

15 years ago, the evil Yan killed a martial arts expert with the help of his two henchmen, one blind and one deaf. The son of the victim is given a small jade statue before his father dies. Now, the son is all grown up and wants to learn kung fu. He meets an old man who at first refuses to teach the kid kung fu, but after an assault from Yan and the henchmen, the old man accepts him. It is discovered the old man was the teacher of the kid's father. Yan's secret weapon is the Double Phoenix Eyes. To defeat the style, the old man develops the Eagle Shadow Fist, which the kids trains and soon, defeats the henchmen and kills Yan, finally avengeing the death.
PLOT: Revenge plot combined with the likes of Snake in the Eagle's Shadow. (8)
FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY: The Yuen Clan made newcomer Billy Chong look fantastic on screen, as they did with Jackie Chan in the film mentioned in plot. (10)
